Mount Nelson Hotel's Afternoon Tea buffet is one of South Africa's 'must-do' experiences. Travelers from all over the world have visited the hotel to spend an afternoon taking in the fresh air and sunshine under the trees in the hotel's lush 9-acre garden, or to relax in the elegantly appointed lounge, where the signature Afternoon Tea is laid out on the Windsor Table every day of the year between 2pm and 5:30pm.
Highlights include the hotel's famous baked cheesecake, chocolate torte, smoked salmon choux pastry puffs, and fresh from the oven scones and mushroom empanadas.
Now, in celebration of the soccer World Cup 2010, Mount Nelson Hotel's team of specialist pastry chefs will include a selection of sweet and savoury items themed according to the soccer teams or countries playing in Cape Town (the likes of France, Italy, Paraguay, England, Algeria, Portugal and the Netherlands).
The Afternoon Tea costs ZAR165 per adult and ZAR85 per child under 12, and includes one pot of leaf tea (there are over 30 to choose from), coffee or hot chocolate per person.
Master the DISKI
The energetic and entertaining ‘diski’ dance is the official World Cup 2010 supporter’s dance, and whether you’re attending a game or supporting from your living room, to really get into the spirit of things, you’ll need to stretch, kick, laugh, boogie and get to grips with the official diski moves and anthem.
Mount Nelson Hotel has arranged for dancers from the popular Afro-fusion band CODA to provide personalised diski lessons to visitors to the hotel and hotel guests upon request. Lessons cost ZAR700 for a group of up to four guests.
ZAR100 from each lesson will be donated to the charity organisation Grassroot Soccer (
www.grassrootsoccer.org).

Show Your Support
In the lead up to and during the World Cup 2010 period, specially selected Mount Nelson Hotel staff acting as World Cup ambassadors will show their support for the games by wearing the hotel’s specially designed ‘Elolo SA Soccer Dollie’ (
www.elolo.com) badge on their lapels.
These dollies were designed and created by women from the Mfuleni Township outside Cape Town, most of whom support their families on proceeds from sales of the dollies. Elolo Soccer Dollies will also be available for purchase from Mount Nelson Hotel’s Signature Boutique.
